Commemoration of Yom Hazikaron and Celebration of Yom Haatzmaut

On Monday, the 5th of May, there was a commemoration for Yom Hazikaron in the Tablada Cemetery, where Jews from all around Argentina and Buenos Aires remembered those who died in Israel´s military battles. Just twenty four hours later, the commemoration segued into celebration, as the celebration of Israel´s statehood began.

On this date, everyone in the nation remembers those who died in the fight for the establishment of the state of Israel and its defense. Later, the holiday also began to honor those who died in terrorist attacks.

AMIA, along with the Israeli Embassy and other community organizations, organized this monument housed in the graveyard. The monument is open to the community figures, Judaic scholars, members of the Israeli embassy, families of the victims, and the general public.

The end of yom hazikaron, which symbolizes national pain, gives way into the celebration of Yom Haatzmaut which represents life and the future.

AMIA enthusiastically organized the celebration of Yom Haatzmaut, which included a traditional Israeli breakfast  on Tuesday May 6th at 9:30 in AMIA´s art space, Pastuer 633, Capital Federal. The Israeli Embassy, diplomatic invitees, y special guests will all be present.
